A. Usually every 3 to 5 years you should get your septic tank pumped out considering certain factors such as the size of the tank, the number of people in the household and the amount and types of solids.
Q. How do I know when my septic tank needs to be pumped out?
A. Signs your septic tank needs to be pumped out are
-Sinks and toilets draining slowly
-System backups
- Gargling noises coming from your plumbing
Q. I recently had my septic tank pumped out, why is it full again?
A. Could be many different factors, most common are
- A clog in the pipe from a recent backup
- Roots/clog within the drain field pipes
- Grease in the pipe
Q. How close can trees and shrubs be to the drain field?
A. 30 feet away is most common due to the extensive root systems that seek out and grow into wet areas such as drain fields. Minor setbacks under certain circumstances could be necessary.
Q. How can I prevent a septic failure?
A. MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED! Also making sure uncommon materials are not flushed down the toilet or drain.
Q. Do I need to be there when my septic tank is being pumped out?
A. No, if you regularly maintain your septic tank you do not need to be present for the pump out. We will be happy to leave your receipt at your door!
